Anniversary And/Or Other Special Events

Founded on January 5, 1876, as the Belleville Horticultural Society, our organization has a proud history of nurturing beauty and community spirit for over 100 years. In 1973, we adopted the name Belleville Garden Club to reflect a shift in focus from rural to urban interests. In 2026, we celebrate 150 years! The City of Belleville will provide a proclamation of our anniversary at the meeting held on Feb. 9th. We will also celebrate at Corby Rose Park with special guests and be honoured with a storybook plaque structure!
We have several events planned for our celebration year.

On February 28th, we will be one of the hosts for our 2nd Annual Seedy Saturday.
On March 28 and 29th we will be providing a workshop at the Quinte Home and Cottage Show.
Also on March 29th, we will have a table at the Quinte Model Train show. We will be demonstrating Garden scale model railroading and the gardening that enhances the layout.

Highlights

March 2025 – Belleville’s 1st Seedy Saturday was held on March 1st. Our club hosted the event along with Seeds of Diversity Canada, Quinte Conservation, Quinte Field Naturalists, and Belleville's Green Taskforce. This was such a success and we saw over 700 people in attendance. Many of the vendors have already signed up for this year's event.
Also, we had a display to show gardening in G Scale at the Quinte Model Railway show.
We continue to maintain our projects at the Belleville Hospital courtyard and Belleville Cemetery.
