| Fundraisers | Our annual plant sale, in May, is our largest fundraiser and volunteers amassed an amazing 1,003 hours of time while potting, labelling, transporting, caring for and selling plants. The plants were mostly made up of perennials that were donated from member's gardens. Funds were also raised from sales of spring bulbs and worm castings. | ||||||||
| Highlights | Membership for the year remained steady with 107 members. There were 4 flower shows, 2 photo contests and a successful plant sale. Three community gardens were maintained by volunteers who regularly weeded and watered them. We had a variety of interesting speakers which included such topics as urban farming, crabapples, floral design, flora of Canada, tea gardening and seed saving. We participated in The City of Mississauga's Garden Day to promote horticulture and our society. A spring field trip was taken to a Niagara Tulip Farm. | ||||||||

| Society/Club Volunteer Hours | The volunteer hours we spend illustrates how valuable we are in our communities and across Ontario. As an analytical tool, volunteer hours can also be used to determine where time is being spent within a Society/Club, District, or organization which helps us make important decisions on programs, fundraising, and budget. For instance, horticultural Society/Club members volunteered 445,387 hours in 2024! Entry Instructions: | ||||||||
