| Fundraisers | The Orono Horticultural Society proudly hosted its annual perennial sale in May, an event the community eagerly anticipates each year. Once again, local support was outstanding. Shoppers were delighted to take home healthy pots of garden favourites and appreciated the chance to chat with our garden experts about how to help their new plants thrive. | ||||||||
| Highlights | The Orono Horticultural Society celebrated its 104th anniversary with a successful year of events. We welcomed strong turnout for six guest speakers on topics from bees and birds to pawpaw trees and winter sowing. Our new Canada Proud Series featured local history highlights such as the Orono Forestry and the Vimy Oak. In August, our members enjoyed a tour of the 1840 Farmhouse Winery. We held three horticultural shows and a photo show, and were pleased to see new exhibitors. Our volunteers kept the village gardens vibrant and widely praised. | ||||||||

| Society/Club Volunteer Hours | The volunteer hours we spend illustrates how valuable we are in our communities and across Ontario. As an analytical tool, volunteer hours can also be used to determine where time is being spent within a Society/Club, District, or organization which helps us make important decisions on programs, fundraising, and budget. For instance, horticultural Society/Club members volunteered 445,387 hours in 2024! Entry Instructions: | ||||||||
