Fundraisers

2025's annual spring Plant Sale reported the highest dollar sales and profit of any held previously (net profit was over $1300). This was due in a large part to a plant container workshop held one week previously. Workshop participants brought donated plants (mostly annuals) and their own container and the Society provided soil, planting tips and design instruction. The resultant 10 beautifully planted containers were then sold at the Plant Sale.

Highlights

Eight meeting programs featured speaker presentations, three included demonstrations. A container planting workshop preceded a most successful spring Plant Sale. Flower Shows were held in spring and fall, with awards presented at the AGM. Volunteers worked at two community gardens: Eastern Gates of Loyalist Parkway, and Horsey Bay Parkette. The latter included a wooden bench being removed and rebuilt. To provide a succession planning resource, detailed job descriptions and task lists were written out for each executive position.

Society/Club Volunteer HoursThe volunteer hours we spend illustrates how valuable we are in our communities and across Ontario. As an analytical tool, volunteer hours can also be used to determine where time is being spent within a Society/Club, District, or organization which helps us make important decisions on programs, fundraising, and budget. For instance, horticultural Society/Club members volunteered 445,387 hours in 2024!
