| Anniversary And/Or Other Special Events | For our April and May meetings in 2025, we temporarily moved to St. John the Baptist Church, Lakefield to accommodate a larger audience for both months. We no longer hold an annual "Lakefield in Bloom" and have replaced this with a smaller flower show incorporated as part of a general meeting with speaker. | ||||||||

| Fundraisers | Our main fundraiser was the annual plant sale, held on the Victoria Day long weekend, which was a huge success and generated a net profit of over $5,700. Many Society volunteers were involved in donating, potting, transporting and selling the plants. Attendees appreciated not just the quality of the plants, but the advice that they were given about plant care. | ||||||||
| Highlights | Eight speakers were engaged at our monthly general meetings. In July we held a potluck picnic for all members. LHS continued our community beautification efforts by providing summer hanging baskets for the village main street in addition to four large containers at the village center. We planted and maintained beds in Cenotaph Park, Isabel Morris Park (pollinator garden) and Buckhorn library gardens. Extra watering was required due to extreme dry season. | ||||||||

| Society/Club Volunteer Hours | The volunteer hours we spend illustrates how valuable we are in our communities and across Ontario. As an analytical tool, volunteer hours can also be used to determine where time is being spent within a Society/Club, District, or organization which helps us make important decisions on programs, fundraising, and budget. For instance, horticultural Society/Club members volunteered 445,387 hours in 2024! Entry Instructions: | ||||||||
