Fundraisers

We had a very successful Spring Plant Sale. Members donated plants as well as sponsors donated some plants. We bolstered our plants by purchasing extra plants. We invited and recruited local community groups to join us on that day. We have Big Yellow Bag Fundraiser that interested a few people and we received some cash for this fundraiser. Part of the community groups joining us was a seed company who gave away packets of seeds. This was particularly interesting to visitors. Other community groups joined our Plant Sale event to attract more people and have diverse offerings.

Highlights

This year was marked by community impact and recognition. We were nominated by the Chamber of Commerce for an Agriculture Award, partnered widely across King Township and participated in the Your Opportunity Fair. We partook in the Trees of Giving, installed our rock at Wellesley Garden, supported Outreach with Seneca College. We hosted our Spring Plant Sale with community groups and a seed company. We advanced education through expert speakers, workshops, flower shows. Our Co-President wrote articles that kept members informed and engaged.

Society/Club Volunteer HoursThe volunteer hours we spend illustrates how valuable we are in our communities and across Ontario. As an analytical tool, volunteer hours can also be used to determine where time is being spent within a Society/Club, District, or organization which helps us make important decisions on programs, fundraising, and budget. For instance, horticultural Society/Club members volunteered 445,387 hours in 2024!
