Highlights

OGC hosted 11 meetings, grew and donated over 1,000 lbs of vegetables for a local food bank, maintained gardens at a National Historic Site, a cancer support centre, a school and a city garden. Hours, canned food and money were donated to 3 other causes. Six newsletters were produced during the year as well as many e-blasts, an updated website and an active Facebook page with 2,600 followers. We toured 11 member gardens, held a bus tour, several fundraisers, started planning for our 100th anniversary and launched a Coffee Club.

Society/Club Volunteer HoursThe volunteer hours we spend illustrates how valuable we are in our communities and across Ontario. As an analytical tool, volunteer hours can also be used to determine where time is being spent within a Society/Club, District, or organization which helps us make important decisions on programs, fundraising, and budget. For instance, horticultural Society/Club members volunteered 445,387 hours in 2024!
