Anniversary And/Or Other Special Events

In 2026 we plan to celebrate our 40th Anniversary. Our MP and MPP are honouring the Society's contribution in a ceremony at the TBG. We are donating special tree plantings and organizing celebratory events for our members.
Our very popular annual "Tour of Magical Gardens' will be held June 20, which involves a great number of our members participating to make it happen successfully.
At the upcoming AM in November, Joanna Blanchard will present a special talk on the history of gardens in Leaside.

Fundraisers

Our annual garden tour raised over $4,000, allowing us to continue to offer a $2,000 scholarship to a student of Environmental Studies.
As it happened, a local Leaside student proved to be an exceptionally brilliant and inspiring candidate.
A pop-up sale featuring houseplants and cuttings of annuals was organized to coincide with the garden tour, and raised over $100.00 for the scholarship fund.

Highlights

Our annual garden tour raised over $4,000, allowing us to continue to offer a $2,000 scholarship to a student of Environmental Studies. We sponsored 4 classes to the TBG Teaching Garden. Our flower shows and children's workshops were very successful. In cooperation with the City, we planted and maintained the gardens by the Public Library. Aided by our members, students from 4 local schools planted annuals in several public areas. We offered Front Garden and Community Non-Residential Awards.

Society/Club Volunteer HoursThe volunteer hours we spend illustrates how valuable we are in our communities and across Ontario. As an analytical tool, volunteer hours can also be used to determine where time is being spent within a Society/Club, District, or organization which helps us make important decisions on programs, fundraising, and budget. For instance, horticultural Society/Club members volunteered 445,387 hours in 2024!
