Anniversary And/Or Other Special Events

Our Special Event this year was our Brews and Blooms fundraiser where we invited membership and the public to partake in an afternoon tea experience. We had Lia Lindeman do a presentation on how to grow your own tea garden. She then brought samples of her home grown teas for participants to taste. Membership made afternoon tea inspired snacks to accompany the tea. It was a lovely afternoon and a great fundraiser for the society.

Fundraisers

Our Spring Plant Sale this year raised just over $2000 and our Fall Plant Sale about $800. We had a partnered fundraiser with a local company called Birdy Blocks where we sold their custom bird feeders for a portion of the profits. We made just under $200 with that fundraiser. The Brews and Blooms Tea event that I mentioned previously in Special Events raised around $600. We also do a gardening calendar. Last year's theme was regarding what to do in the garden when and this year was about gardening for pollinators. So far, this year's fundraiser has raised over $700.

Highlights

Our year was filled with memorable highlights, beginning with Seedy Saturday and a strong return to in-person meetings. Spring brought our successful Plant Sale, Garden Centre Day, the Kinsmen farmers’ market, and our annual Bridge Box planting. Summer was especially busy with a multi-stop garden tour, our Community Museum enhancement project, Brews & Blooms Tea event , our BBQ potluck filled with games and laughter, and a full bus tour. We wrapped up the season with a bustling Fall Plant Sale and a fun, well-attended Halloween costume finale.
