Anniversary And/Or Other Special Events

In addition to the regular plantings around the Town Hall library, bridges and Kinsmen bench we planted annuals in all the street planters on Clinton Steet in Teeswater. We rebuilt and replanted the planter at the post office. We did several pots in Formosa as well as the gardens at Lions Parks. We held a dedication ceremony for past members Millie Blackwell (bench) and John MacDonald (tree) by the Teeswater Medical Centre.

Fundraisers

We had a table at the Teeswater Christmas Vendor Market to inform the public about the work the horticultural society does in our community and to collect memberships.

Highlights

We had a dedication ceremony at the Teeswater Medical Centre for the bench for Millie Blackwell and the tree for John MacDonald, both past members. This was held in June. In August we put up some lovely floral displays to celebrate Teeswater's 150th anniversary. We put up a display at the Teeswater Fair and continue to look after the roots and vegetable at the fair. We have ordered a plaque for our 100th anniversary which will be installed in the Kinsmen Park on Clinton Street in Teeswater.

Society/Club Volunteer HoursThe volunteer hours we spend illustrates how valuable we are in our communities and across Ontario. As an analytical tool, volunteer hours can also be used to determine where time is being spent within a Society/Club, District, or organization which helps us make important decisions on programs, fundraising, and budget. For instance, horticultural Society/Club members volunteered 445,387 hours in 2024!
