Perth & District Horticultural Society
District 2
In 1984 several Perth residents — Joe Rawson, Gordon and Evelyn Bothwell, Peter McMahon, Alan and Irene Roberts, and Ken Willis —revived the PDHS which had been dormant since the outbreak of the Second World War. They chose the Showy Lady Slipper Orchid as our emblem. This flower is indigenous to Lanark County and can be seen blooming in May to June in the Purdon Conservation Area.
PDHS is run by a board of 8 to 14 volunteers who are committed to ensuring our members receive information, education, resources and gardening fellowship through regular meetings and other events throughout the year.
Welcome to another active year with local gardeners.
