Bruce Station Horticultural Society
District 13
Since its first inaugural meeting held on November 16, 1949 the Bruce Station Horticultural Society continues to be an active organization in the community. Each month we host meetings that include interesting topics, informative speakers, workshops, new garden ideas and always free advice. Our enthusiastic group of volunteers maintains several gardens throughout the town, including the new Memorial Garden at the Bruce Station Community Hall. We host and run a Plant Sale at the Johnsons Farmers’ market in Desbarats and we always welcome new members to join in on the fun.
This year we are looking forward to our continued work on growing and providing native plants to sell at our annual plant sale. We will be starting up some new pollinator gardens in the community, host the Vegetable and Flower Exhibition in August, and have lined up some guest speakers who will provide learning about landscape design, local geology and native plants that support pollinators.
