Belle River and District Horticultural Society
With deep sadness we have to share the news that our member Debbie Gauthier has passed away. Debbie was a member of our society for a few years and participated in workshops for the Plant Market. She was a quiet but steady and valued member. Debbie brought a number of peace lilies for us to sell at the last Plant Market. She was an accomplished gardener and enjoyed the company of other gardeners in our society. We will remember her and express our condolences to Debbie's family.
November 15th - The AGM was held and with the election our Society got a new president and three new directors for the board. We congratulate Jeff Bryan on being elected president and wish him all the best for the future years. We also welcome Colleen Enright, Sheila MacCara, and Kelly Chauvin who will join the board as directors. The other directors are Michele vandenBerg, Lisa Simard, Claudette Bryan, Suzette Cecile, and Marg. Quick.
The evening had a panel of Master Gardeners explain different aspects of gardening. There were several questions and everybody learned something new and different. The meeting also included a review of the past year's activities and a look to the future of the Society. The outgoing president Paul Schneider thanked for the support and encouragement shown throughout this difficult year.
The next event is the Christmas Party and the workshop preparing for it. The party is December 6 with the doors opening at 5:30 and will consist of the tried and true event of appetizers and desserts! If you missed the meeting and still would like to go to the Christmas Party please call Marg. at 519-727-4226 for more information.
