CHS March Meeting: Fruit Trees~Pruning & Care

March 31, 2025 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

You are invited! First meeting of the 2025 season – Rob Alexander will present ‘Fruit Trees: Pruning & Care’.

Rob is the general manager at Nature’s Bounty Farm in Port Perry. Since 2018, Rob has been responsible for growing and maintaining 24 acres of orchard which includes 25 varieties of apple and two different pear cultivars. The orchard consists of over 12,000 trees, ranging from recently planted high-density to 40-year-old semi-dwarf trees. Rob has traveled around the Great Lakes, visited dozens of orchards, and has learned best management practices from growers across Canada and the USA. With a background in marketing and public relations, Rob has helped transform Nature’s Bounty into a leading agritourism destination in Durham Region. He is also an active volunteer in various agricultural organizations, including Durham Farm Fresh and the Durham Federation of Agriculture.

With years of hands-on experience, Rob will share his expertise and practical knowledge on the art of pruning fruit trees. You will learn essential tips and skills for maintaining healthy and productive fruit trees. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and learn from an expert in the field.

The 2025 season marks a momentous occasion for the Cannington Horticultural Society as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary. We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments and contributions this club has made over the past half-century.

As we look forward, we hope to continue growing our club and welcome new members to join us in enjoying the wonderful world of horticulture. We invite you to explore the natural world, work with plants, and connect with the earth as we learn about the diverse life that surrounds us – join us and learn, grow & enjoy with CHS.

Doors open at 7pm – Registration Table open.
