Schomberg Horticultural Society

District 15

About Us

Since its inception on April 12th, 1935, the Schomberg Horticultural Society has been an integral part of King Township. The objectives of the Society are to hold meetings with guest speakers that will encompass all aspects of horticulture to encourage all types of gardening. We promote the protection of the environment through good gardening practices, tree plantings, public beautification and educational materials and how to be good stewards of our lands. Furthermore, we provide competitions, exhibits, field trips, contests and awards to promote these objectives, which are bound by their constitution and are governed by the Agricultural & Horticultural Organizations Act of the Province of Ontario.

The Schomberg Horticultural Society has not taken these tasks lightly, which is evident by the numerous projects, installations, maintenance and beautification of gardens we have committed to over the years.
The January, February and March meetings will still be via zoom, while the first in-person meeting is scheduled for April. The meetings feature interesting and educational speakers but the main events are the plant sale on the weekend before Mother's Day and the Annual Garden Tour on the last Sunday in June.
