Almonte & District Horticultural Society

District 2

About Us

Welcome to the Almonte and District Horticultural Society. Ours is an organization of diverse members with many levels and angles of knowledge in horticulture and related topics, and people who like to learn !

Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of the month except in July and December. There are educational speakers and demonstrations at meetings, flower and vegetable shows, and refreshments. Two of the meetings include a pot-luck supper.

For people who enjoy working with flowers, the Town Beautification Committee welcomes volunteers to maintain the gardens and flower boxes around town. No experience is required and you are sure to make new friends. Come and join us at one of our meetings to find out about this and other activities.

For 10 weeks in the summer we hold a "Yard of the Week" competition. Gardens are nominated by friends and neighbours, then volunteer judges go round and pick a winner each week. Prizes are awarded and the runner up moves into the following week's nominations.
