About Us

Welcome to the Pakenham Horticultural Society, your local garden club. Our motto is Gardeners helping Gardeners!

You don't need to be an expert to join our club!! We are a group of energetic gardeners of all ages and levels of experience.

We happily share our love and knowledge of gardening in the Ottawa Valley.

For over 90 years, we have held meetings on a wide variety of gardening topics (plants/flowers/vegetables/perennials/garden design etc), we host three friendly flower shows annually, we support the growth of new generation of green thumbs with our Junior Gardens program, and our members work on various community plantings to beautify our great village.

2023 Highlights: We started our year with a fun filled hands on Rock Painting Night. In March we took advantage of Zoom to bring in landscape designer Ben O’Brien from Prince Edward County, fo our first ever hybrid meeting. Other guest speakers included topics like Gardening as we Age, Benefits of Essential Oils, 100 Years of Peonies at the Experimental Farm, History of Pakenham Hort, and Leaf Compost. We hosted three well attended flower shows. We took part in a Spring Health and Wellness Fair and the August Bi-Centennial Events at the Stewart Community Center. We wrapped up the year with a Christmas Centerpiece Workshop with great attendance by members and the public.
