President’s Message 2024

Welcome fellow gardeners to the 32nd year of the Norwood and District Horticultural Society. We have another exciting year planned in 2024 with dynamic speakers, fantastic flower shows, a possible bus trip and the introduction of a new program sponsoring horticultural-related trips for our local schools. We will also continue our commitments within the community. A complete list of activities, events and shows can be found in this yearbook. Any updates or changes will be announced at our monthly meetings.

The purchase of a zoom account will allow us to still hold meetings that in the past may have been cancelled due to inclement weather, or we can bring new and interesting speakers from farther afield.

I would like to encourage everyone to come out and volunteer, whether it’s for one hour or 20. There are many activities you can become involved with. If you don’t have time to volunteer, I would encourage you to buy a plant at the plant sale, stop by our table at the Warkworth Lilac Festival, or cheer us on in the parade at the Norwood Fall Fair. Please feel free to pull a weed if you see one growing in one of the community garden beds. If you only have time to attend a meeting, please invite a friend. All are welcome.

I wish to extend heartfelt thanks to the outgoing President Maria Bogdan for her outstanding leadership for the past 2 years. I also wish to give a great big thank you to the departing Board of Directors and welcome the new Directors into the fold.

We meet on the second Tuesday of the month except July, August and December at the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 300) located at 27 King Street, Norwood, Ontario.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. (except as noted in the Yearbook).
