• and our ever-present Opportunity Table … where you have the “opportunity” to get garden-themed items at yard sale prices … by donation …
• snacks and mingling with lovely people (us) following …

From Allan … Trees and shrubs offer us a lot in our lives. One of the main benefits is the food value they provide. We will look at many of the native plants along roadsides or in the woodlands that offer us produce and also some of the multitude of cultivated trees and shrubs we can grow ourselves to produce subsidies to our rising costs at the grocery store and, besides, a lot of this is for enjoyment, too !

Allan’s Bio … Born and raised in Montreal, gained much experience through my university and college years with the City of Westmount’s Parks Department which included a lot of experience on their Floral Clock and in their greenhouses.

• BSc in Biology, Natural Science (Lakehead University, Thunder Bay)
• diplomas in Park Management (U of Guelph) and Greenhouse Management (Algonquin)

Retired now (sort of !) having completed …

• a number of Provincial Contracts
• work in Saudi Arabia as a Landscape Manager
• owning and operating Almonte Landscape Services 1989 – 2015

Still very active with various related projects and committees in Almonte, including the Almonte and District Horticultural Society, and was recently awarded the OHA Award of Merit and a District 2 Award of Merit.
