Award-winning TorontoGardens.com blogger Helen Battersby encourages us to turn notions of what “ornamental” means upside-down and meet unusual plants that are also safe to eat. This colourful presentation spurs thinking about gardens and edible plants in exciting new ways, with plenty of inspiration for integration of beautiful edibles (and edible beauty) into flower beds, vegetable patches, and dinner menus – for garden spaces both tiny and large!
Master Gardener Helen Battersby is a graduate of Ryerson’s Landscape Design program and serves on the Board of GardenComm, the association for garden communicators. Her words and images can be found in print magazines and in online gardening venues. With her sister, Sarah, she maintains the TorontoGardens.com site and publishes the award-winning Toronto & Golden Horseshoe Gardener’s Journal. Helen is an engaging speaker and you may have seen her at Canada Blooms or the Toronto Botanical Garden.
Tonight’s speaker is planning to attend our meeting in person. Should inclement weather prevent her from traveling to Richmond Hill, a live video broadcast of her remote participation will be projected onto a large screen in the auditorium.
All general meetings begin with a welcome and general announcements, which precede the introduction of the guest speaker.
