CHS May Meeting & Flower: Growing FOOD…Home Gardening

May 1, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

We invite you to join us as we learn about ‘Growing FOOD’ – with the price of food skyrocketing and the need to have access to fresh and healthy food it is becoming very popular to put in a vegetable garden for oneself. Join us for the CHS May presentation with Alana Cawker who does just that! Alana will share her knowledge from the little corner of the country near Woodville, Ontario where she is passionate about raising her own food and living the simple life. As she says “Our patch of land may be small but it is bursting with goodness which includes several vegetable and flower gardens, laying hens, meat chickens, ducks, honeybees and sometimes pigs!”.
Alana calls herself “The Rustic Wife” and has many how-to videos and recipe ideas already shared on Instagram and Youtube. Learn tips and ideas from one who does it all in her home gardens. From seed selection, garden prep and winter storage of the harvest – Alana’s passion for gardening and growing food will be sure to inspire you add a few more items to your own patch of land.
May Flower Show is open to all CHS Members – please place your exhibits from 6:30 to 7pm. Judging to follow. Doors open at 6:30pm
We love new members and Youth members to try their hand at exhibiting – ask us for details if you need help or have questions.
Youth members are invited to sign up for the summer Youth Challenge: Bee the Change- Plant Natives. $400 in prize money is up for grabs to the top six gardens in the challenge! Learn more and sign up tonight!
