Focusing on Native Plants and cultivars of Native Plants (Nativars), Sean will share some of his top shrub picks for a variety of garden types, including rain gardens, shade gardens, and sun gardens. The discussion will also include shrub tolerance to different soil types such as clay and sandy.
Master Gardener Sean James, owner of Sean James Consulting & Design (www.seanjames-consulting.ca) is a graduate of Niagara Parks School of Horticulture with more than thirty years of experience in the horticultural industry. Named by GardenMaking magazine as one of “20 Canadians Making a Difference,” Sean is an advocate for eco-friendly gardening techniques. This will be his fourth presentation to our society.
The guest speaker for our fourteenth annual Barker Lecture is planning to attend the meeting in person. Should inclement weather prevent him from traveling to Richmond Hill, a live video broadcast of his remote participation will be projected onto a large screen in the auditorium.
All general meetings begin with a welcome and general announcements, which precede the introduction of the guest speaker.
