We taught division, rooting cuttings via water and soil, leaf propogation, seed sowing (microgreens). Some classes came from our local public achool to tour and learn. When the plants were large enough we held open houses and sold them. Adults and youth enjoyed this project.

Yoth leaders chose projects, with input from the kids. No officers in our group.
We taught indoor plant propogation and care/needs of different indoor plants. We got to take a plant home to care for.
Planted bulbs, seeds and plants outside and learned about plant care.
We constructed scarecrows for our town Cornfest celebration. These were displayed and judged.
We built bee hotels for native bees which we got to take home and hang in our gardens.
We learned about pollination, and the critical importance of different native bees and native plants.
We planted herbs and native plants to sell at the local market.
Our final meeting was a celebration and we got to make a Thanksgiving display using a flat piece of firewood
decorated with objects found in nature such as teesels, dried rye grass, tiny gourds, chestnute etc.
To male these displays extra special we got to add miniature lights.

Youth Club Comments

the kids have a blast and tell us what projects they loved best.
Leaders ar getting older, would like to find younger people to lead.
We stated 8 - 12 year olds then let younger siblings in. Found it hard to manage group.
Load of projects we can do with kids but take them for a walk to local display gardens if they are too restless.
