| Anniversary And/Or Other Special Events | We celebrated our 175th anniversary this year. 5 general meetings were held, one of which included a very successful plant swap. Our 4 board meeting were open to all members. The Spring Event was a big hit with a speaker, break-out session and vendors. 81 people attended. Other events included the annual plant sale, a float in the Canada parade, social times for members and our annual Great Gardens competition where 16 local residents were awarded a certificate, bragging rites and a lovely ESHS Great Gardens sign to show off for the season. Our members worked tirelessly in our 10 community gardens and in the Pollinator and Healing gardens behind the local hospital. We continue seeking grants and other sources of funds to pay for a rain garden to mitigate water issues behind the hospital. The hospital will be bringing forward a proposal to add funds to their budget this spring to put into this project. (Fingers crossed.) Despite steady snow we had a good AGM today! | ||||||||

| Highlights | Our May plant sale was a great success. A members' tour of selected Great Garden winners was well attended and opened our eyes to some new plants for our warming climate. This year's Canada Day parade, our float was spectacular with a huge twirling butterfly, music, trees & flowers. Stunning and creative! Aa appreciation event at the Healing and Pollinator gardens was a chance to praise the work we have achived there and to talk plants with other lovely gardeners. September's plant swap was exciting and fun. | ||||||||

| Society/Club Volunteer Hours | The volunteer hours we spend illustrates how valuable we are in our communities and across Ontario. As an analytical tool, volunteer hours can also be used to determine where time is being spent within a Society/Club, District, or organization which helps us make important decisions on programs, fundraising, and budget. For instance, horticultural Society/Club members volunteered 445,387 hours in 2024! Entry Instructions: | ||||||||
