Fundraisers

Our plant sale is held the 3rd Saturday in May and it is our major fundraiser. We order annuals from a local wholesaler. Perennials, house plants and driftwood are donated from our members.
We gather together Friday afternoon to set up tables and price the plants that have arrived so far. On Saturday morning, we meet back at 8am at the church’s parking lot, the plant sale starts, and we enjoy a flurry of people who look forward to coming to the plant sale usually by 10 o’clock. The majority of the plants are usually sold by 12 o’clock. Any plants not sold are donated to the London Horticultural Society for their Gathering on the Green plant sale.
It’s a great event, where we all come together.

Highlights

We enjoyed our 50th anniversary in 2025. At each general meeting, we celebrated by giving one lucky member - a $50 gift certificate to a local garden centre that supports our Hort. Society. Additionally in June, we celebrated with an anniversary party with cake and punch and garden bingo. In November at our AGM and potluck we celebrated with a potluck dinner and cake and punch. Also at this meeting each member that attended, received a black vase holder that contained carnation and a vase - to remember Lambeth Hort. Society’s 50th anniversary.

Society/Club Volunteer HoursThe volunteer hours we spend illustrates how valuable we are in our communities and across Ontario. As an analytical tool, volunteer hours can also be used to determine where time is being spent within a Society/Club, District, or organization which helps us make important decisions on programs, fundraising, and budget. For instance, horticultural Society/Club members volunteered 445,387 hours in 2024!
