Leaside Garden Society

District 5

About Us

Founded in 1986, The Leaside Garden Society's mission is to establish a friendly meeting place to share, encourage, award and educate on the fundamental values and principles of gardening, concerns about the environment, and to create a horticultural legacy within the community and to be to be an inspiration for gardening everywhere.

Territorial Acknowledgement:

The Leaside Garden Society acknowledges that Toronto, or T’karonto, and the land where we live and garden, is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Wendat peoples.

We respectfully acknowledge the stewardship of this land by many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and the continuing presence of Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work, live, learn and garden on this land.

Acknowledging this reminds us that as gardeners we have a responsibility to teach respect and restoration of the land as Indigenous peoples have been doing for thousands of years.

In the spirit of reconciliation, you might consider donating to support the essential provision of clean drinking water for Indigenous peoples in Ontario, for example through https://waterfirst.ngo/
