BIO (For Introductions): Kristen Martyn is a birder, Master Naturalist, photographer, avid native
plant gardener, and Bird Feeding Specialist currently pursuing a Landscape Design Diploma. Her
passion for the natural world led her to earn a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and complete post
graduate studies in Ecotourism and Adventure Tourism Management. Kristen is the owner of
Wild Birds Unlimited Barrie and Wild Birds Unlimited Newmarket, two backyard bird-feeding and
nature specialty stores. She greatly enjoys teaching others about birds, native plants, and the
natural world.
Qualifications & Experience: Kristen Martyn holds a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and a post
graduate diploma in Ecotourism and Adventure Tourism Management. She is a Certified Master
Naturalist, holds a Pollinator Stewardship Certification, and is currently completing a Landscape
Design Diploma through the University of Guelph. Kristen has extensive hands-on experience in
native plant gardening, pollinator-friendly and bird-friendly habitat design, and ecological
landscaping. As the owner of Wild Birds Unlimited Barrie and Newmarket, she combines
scientific training, practical experience, and public education, delivering engaging, photograph
rich presentations for horticultural societies, garden clubs, and naturalist groups.
