East York Garden Club
District 5
Our mission is to promote gardening in the community, to encourage sharing of horticultural knowledge, to beautify the community, and to conserve our natural resources.
The East York Garden Club was established in 1926. While flowering plants have always been a strong focus, the Club also explores vegetable gardening, seed-collecting, rain gardens, invasive plants, and the natural ecology of this land.
With 200 members, EYGC members enjoy regular expert lectures, pop-up garden tours, plant sales, photo competitions, an annual bus trip, flower shows and tea. A magazine-quality newsletter, Facebook page and Club emails also keep members connected and up-to-date. Members also contribute hours to maintaining gardens at local institutions such as the Royal Canadian Legion.
A dedicated group of volunteers keep the East York Garden Club active. Awards are given out at our Annual General Meeting to those who have participated in Club programs. Eight members have been given Lifetime membership because of their dedication to the Club.
All interested in gardening, of any skill level, are welcome to join us! Most members live in or around East York.
More information about our club is available on our website at http://www.eygc.ca/
