Gravenhurst Horticultural Society
District 18
The Gravenhurst Horticultural Society first existed from 1924-1930. The current Society was established in 1948 and has been in existence since, affiliated with the Ontario Horticultural Association since 1950.
The Society hosts monthly meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, featuring a guest speaker or workshop and open to everyone - both Members and Guests. (Meetings are not held in Dec, Jul, or Aug)
We hold an annual plant and bake sale open to the public on the Saturday of the long weekend in May each year.
We assist the municipality planting and maintaining public gardens and planters in town, and in June will we be assisting with promoting Pollinator Week as part of Gravenhurst's designation as a Bee City. https://beecitycanada.org
In July, we partner with the Town of Gravenhurst and give recognition to beautiful front yard gardens as part of "The Daisy Awards", named after the town flower. We also hold a member's garden tour.
In August we hold a Flower & Vegetable show open to the public, and also enjoy a members and family BBQ.
We have a Christmas potluck supper in November in conjunction with our AGM, at which time we hold a photography contest for members.

We meet on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm in the upstairs auditorium of the Gravenhurst Seniors/Active Living Centre.

Membership is $10 and includes discounts at local garden centers.
Everyone is welcome to attend our monthly meetings - Members are $2 and Guests are $5 at the door to help cover costs for rent and refreshments.
