District 18
“Some people look for a beautiful place, others make a place beautiful”. Hazrat Inavat Khan
We think Parry Sound, on beautiful Georgian Bay, is the perfect place for both.
The Parry Sound and District Horticultural Society, aka the Garden Club, has had a rich and long history serving the Parry Sound District. Since 1963 we have been involved in helping out with the Parry Sound town gardens while promoting the protection of the environment. We arrange field trips to see amazing gardens, hold contests relating to gardening and horticulture and set up garden tours. We also hold an annual plant sale around the first weekend in June that sells out very quickly every year. You won’t want to miss it.
The club has monthly meetings at The Stockey Centre on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 pm starting in March through June and September through November. At the meetings we have a variety of interesting speakers that talk about everything from growing giant vegetables to attracting birds and pollinators to the garden. There are hands-on workshops where you can make your own succulent dish garden, Christmas wreath, winter porch planter or floral design. At our meetings we hold four flower shows each year and a photo competition where members display their creativity and their love of plants and flowers. Currently the club boasts close to 100 members
