Beaverton Horticultural Society
District 17
The Beaverton Horticultural Society was started in 1922 by four men: Joe Cave, Cass Cameron, Frank McRae and Bud Tisdale. Olive Westlake was invited to be the secretary-treasurer. The first flower show was held on September 22, 1922 in the Town Hall.
The Beaverton Horticultural Society (BHS) provides opportunities for members to share information and friendship through a shared interest in gardening and related activities. Each year the BHS provides diverse programming including educational presentations, flower and vegetable shows, garden tours, field visits, design workshops, seed and plant sharing. BHS members maintain five community gardens in Beaverton: Mill Gate Garden, Library planters and Town Hall bed, Cenotaph, Point bed, and the Tom Hawtin Memorial Garden at the Beaverton Fire Hall.
Guests are always welcome at our monthly meetings.
