Stoney Creek Garden Club and Horticultural Society

District 6

About Us

HISTORY
The Stoney Creek Horticultural Society was established in 1926 but its mission has remained the same, to encourage an interest in horticulture.
LOGO
To acknowledge the importance of planting native plant species that provide food and shelter for native animals and insects, the red trillium was recently chosen as the Society’s new logo. It replaced the red geranium which was originally chosen for its popularity with settlers in the area.
PURPOSE
To educate by providing knowledgeable speakers talking on various topics related to successful gardening.
WHAT WE DO
Donations are made annually to the City of Hamilton beautification department and to a student studying horticulture. The Society supports the Royal Botanical Gardens by purchasing two memberships for members to use. Several community gardens are tended and summer and winter urns are planted at the local library. An annual plant sale and silent auction raise funds for the above endeavours.
TO CONCLUDE
If you love gardening, enjoy sharing ideas with other gardeners and want to learn more about gardening please consider joining.
