About Us

Do check us out on Facebook and Instagram(ganhorticulturalsoc) to see gardening info, photos as well as our Youtube channel"Gananoque Gardeners".
2026 will be our 106th Anniversary of being part of GardenOntario. A milestone we are proud of as a society.
It will also be the 102 nd Anniversary of the Park at 21 Main St having been deeded to us from the McDonald family.

One of the primary aims of the Gananoque Horticultural Society is Community beautification. This is accomplished by encouraging people to develop their own gardens through our educational speakers and seminars.

Members and visitors have opportunities to see what others have done on garden tours, as well as through flower exhibitions and competitions, and speakers. Our park at 21 Main St is a visual example of how we contribute to community beautification and education. Check our events calendar for this year's great line up.

Our Society has been involved in the community of Gananoque and the surrounding area since the late 1800s. Our Society was first founded on April 1 1885 and fell inactive for a period following but has been continuously in service to the community since 1920.

The Gananoque Trillium Award is presented to the most attractive, well-maintained and planned garden, as viewed from the street. The winning gardens must look good throughout the growing season, and winners are notified in the fall and invited to our annual awards meeting in January.

We hold a plant sale each May to encourage affordable gardening and have a Garden Tour in July to show off beautiful local gardens. We run two provincial-level quality Flower Shows in June and September. Our free speakers series runs from Feb to June and Sept to Nov each year.
