Welcome to the Collins Bay and District Horticultural Society, which was established in 1954 and then incepted in 1959 as part of District 3. Our club is made up of members at all levels of gardening experience - from the amateur, new, and wannabe, to those longtime members who are Master Gardeners. All of us share a common love of gardening along with the desire to promote responsible ecological care of our environment.

Monthly meetings begin with a social time over light refreshments followed by a program on a particular topic of interest. Members can get to hear a speaker presentation, experience a demonstration, participate in a workshop, or perhaps go on a special outing and garden tour. Flower Shows are held each June and September which offer members the unique opportunity to exhibit flowers, plants, vegetables and creative flower designs. In May, a Plant Sale is held open to the public, and is our main yearly fundraiser. Two gardens in community parks are planted and maintained by our member volunteers. Doors open at 6:30 pm with a social time and light refreshments, program starts at 7:00 pm and business meeting follows at 8:00 pm

Membership fee is payable by cash at in-person meetings, or by cheque or e-transfer. Our membership year runs from November 1 to October 31 of the following year. One can join at anytime, but our main membership drive is held in February after our December AGM. On showing membership card, members get a 10% discount on live goods at a number of local garden centers. Check our website for the nurseries list.
