District 15
Brampton, Caledon, Chinguacousy, Cloverleaf, Credit Valley, Etobicoke, Nobleton & King City, Parkdale & Toronto, Richmond Hill, Roselands, Schomberg, Streetsville, Swansea, Thornhill, Woodbridge.
District 15 is comprised of 15 societies. We have a mix of rural and urban societies. Our boundaries include the regions of Peel, York west of Road No. 1, and Toronto west of Yonge Street. Representatives from each society meet annually for our District Annual General Meeting and our two District Advisory meetings. The District Board meets several times throughout the year in preparation for the AGM and District Advisory meetings and other special meetings as the need arises.
No matter what skill levels one has, be it youth or first-time gardeners, be it experienced gardeners or even Master Gardeners and Horticulturalists, the joy of gardening can be experienced by all age groups and people no matter their level of experience. There is something of interest for everyone at a Horticultural Society, regardless if your garden is a tiny balcony or a vast sprawling country estate, or somewhere in between.
At our recent Advisory meeting (Oct. 15, 2023) we were hosted by the Nobleton/King City Garden Club and had a lovely afternoon packed with updates and information that all Society board members should be aware of. Plus a lot of new information and offers for all members. After the tasty refreshments we had door prizes and then continued with the agenda.
A quick recap of the April 20, 2023 District 15 AGM. It was held at St. Matthew's United Church in Richmond Hill, Doreen Coyne was elected as the new District 15 Director. Barb O'Malley presented a glass terrarium to Dorothy Wood who retired after 14 years as District Treasurer. Doreen Coyne thanked the volunteers of the Richmond Hill Garden & Horticultural Society and members of St. Matthew's United Church for their volunteering at the AGM. Janet Orr, of the Schomberg Horticultural Society, received the very prestigious OHA District 15 Service award for her longstanding commitment to the Society and all of her volunteering for over 40 years.
