Sault Ste. Marie Horticultural Society

District 13

About Us

Our society first began in 1908 but was discontinued for 18 years due to World War I. The society was restarted in 1926 and is still going strong today—almost 90 years later!
Our society is a member of the Ontario Horticultural Association (OHA), and we send members to the annual convention each year. We are also part of OHA District 13. This district reaches as far north as Sault Ste. Marie and as far south as French River. District meetings require approximately two hours of driving for most societies but the trip is worth it. Attendees are quite lively ensuring that a good time is had by all.
Members of the Sault Ste. Marie Horticultural Society (SSMHS) meet once a month at the United Baptist Church. Programs vary from carousels to expert speakers and are invariably quite interesting. In addition to general meetings, members participate in a wide range of activities such as Seedy Saturday, an annual garden tour and Harvest Supper.
Below is a list of board members and their contact information.
