SUMMARY:March General Meeting: Guest Speaker Patterson Webster
DESCRIPTION:March General Meeting: Guest Speaker Patterson Webster\, “Creating a Personal Paradise: The Story of Glen Villa Art Garden”\nTonight’s speaker encourages us to go beyond endeavoring to make our gardens look beautiful to additionally making our garden spaces distinctly our own.\nIn this inspirational program\, Patterson Webster will share the story of how she transformed an attractive but conventional garden into one that uses history\, art and horticulture to tell a unique story. Leveraging photographs spanning twenty-five years\, we will virtually tour Glen Villa\, a 750-acre property in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. During our tour\, we’ll visit special garden areas and art installations\, and explore ideas that may help us to tell our own distinct garden stories. \nPatterson Webster is a passionate garden designer\, writer and installation artist who creates personalized landscapes that respond to the history of a site and the people who lived on it. Although retired from leading garden tours to international destinations\, she continues to be a popular speaker\, lecturing on art\, garden history and design. Articles she has authored about gardens and garden design have appeared in numerous publications. And\, her book\, Autobiography of a Garden\, explores the rich history of her Quebec garden\, Glen Villa Art Garden\, featured on several Canadian television programs. For more information about Patterson and her garden\, click here. \nTonight’s guest speaker will participate in our Meeting remotely via Zoom. She and her presentation will be projected onto a large screen in the McConaghy Centre auditorium for our in-person participants. \nSeedy Saturday Prep \nWe are collecting seeds this evening which will be packaged on March 11 in prep for the Seedy Saturday event at the Richmond Hill Central Library on April 5. Please check in with Greta if you have seeds to share or are interested in participating in the packaging and/or the Seedy Saturday event. \nMembers: Instructions for participation in this virtual and in-person event will be emailed to members twice – once on the Friday prior to the meeting\, and again on Monday. Instructions are also available by logging into our site and checking the “members-only” version of this event at https://www.richmondhillgardensociety.org/event-6000974. \nVisitors: Guests are welcome to participate in this virtual and in-person event at a nominal fee of $5.00. Instructions for participation will be emailed to non-society members who complete the registration process prior to the event start time. \nAbout In-Person Attendance at the McConaghy Centre:  \n\nDoors to the auditorium open at 7:00 pm\nThe meeting begins promptly at 7:30 pm\nPlease bring a mug or cup if you would like hot coffee or tea\nAll attendees are encouraged to register online for inclusion in door prize draws\nMasks are not required\, but are encouraged
