SUMMARY:Plant Fair 2026: Parkdale & Toronto Horticultural Society
DESCRIPTION:A beloved\, local Plant Fair that’s also a community gardens’ fundraiser!\nFREE admission. A rain or shine event. \n***Featuring***\nNatives\, pollinators\, organic herbs & veggies\, shade lovers & hard-to-find plants. Plus\, a garden flea market\, free gardening advice\, & groovy giveaways! \n***NOT Featuring***\nAnything invasive. Shop with ease knowing that nothing invasive will be on offer\, including unregulated invasive plants (like English Ivy\, Lily of the valley\, Daylily\, Periwinkle\, Goutweed\, etc.) that sadly can still be found at many garden centres. Speak up\, voice your concern! These pests are taking over Ontario’s woodlands. \n***Jumping Worms?***\nWe’ve got you covered! Whether you know about invasive jumping worms or not\, don’t fret when shopping our fair. All donated plants have been thoroughly root-washed\, repotted in clean pots with commercial potting soil\, and stored off the ground. Donated plants are collected two weeks prior to the sale to ensure viability after root-washing. It’s the third year that we are doing this. It’s a lot… but it matters! 💚 \n***Mobility & Accessibility***\nHosted\, once again\, in Roncy United Church\, this accessible space (with ramp access) can accommodate people with mobility devices as well as those bringing wagons and strollers. \n***Gardening Advice***\nHaving trouble knowing what plants to put where? Have a pesky problem with something in your garden? Ask one of our garden experts to weigh in\, FREE of charge. \n***Payment***\nCash\, debit\, and all major credit cards on purchases of $50 or more. \nSee you there! \n– – – – – – – – – – – \nOur horticultural society is a recognized not-for-profit committed to sharing the joys of plant-growing through encouraging school gardens\, outreach that makes gardening accessible to those of all physical and mental abilities\, hosting horticultural talks\, and funding greening initiatives that make for a more livable city. parkdaletorontohort.com

SUMMARY:CHS May Meeting: Harvesting Health & Healing: Horticultural Therapy
DESCRIPTION:What if working with plants could improve both physical and mental well-being? Join us on May 25 and learn about how caring for plants help people too. Sherry Dodson presents a topic close to her heart – ‘Harvesting Health & Healing: Horticultural Therapy’.  This presentation introduces horticultural therapy\, explores its goals\, and highlights who can benefit from this unique and effective therapeutic approach. \nSherry holds a Horticulturist Certificate from the University of Guelph and a Certificate in Horticultural Therapy from the Toronto Botanical Garden. She has been an active member of the Durham Master Gardeners since 2011.  Sherry is passionate about the natural connection between people and plants\, and she works to harness this bond to help individuals improve their well-being—whether it’s by enhancing mobility\, encouraging physical activity\, or fostering a more positive outlook on life. \nCome out and see how gardening may be more beneficial than just great tomatoes and nice flowers! \nMay Flower Show – all members are encouraged to join the fun and show off a few of their favourite garden blooms. Check out our Yearbook for complete class listing. All entries to be in place by 7pm in order to start the judging. \nDoors open at 6:30pm.
