SUMMARY:The New York High Line Park
DESCRIPTION:This presentation will provide a very interesting overview of what Mary Crawford discovered during her visit to New York’s High Line Park.  You will learn about the background of the park\, its design and the creative use of plants and other vegetation in its unique design and beautiful gardens. Mary will share some inspirational photos of the High Line Park and behind the scene information about the construction and development of the park’s very unusual and beautiful gardens. \nAs a member of the Master Gardeners of Ottawa-Carleton since 2020\, Mary Crawford enjoys speaking to groups and writing articles for the Master Gardeners’ Trowel Talk newsletter. She has loved gardening and traveling for as long as she can remember\, likely her father’s doing. When Mary’s like-minded sister started chatting about the High Line Park in New York City\, they hatched an idea for a trip together with some major garden inspiration. They obtained permission to do a photo shoot at the High Line in the fall of 2023 and Mary is very happy to share her findings.

SUMMARY:David Hawke “Nature As Cure”
DESCRIPTION:David Hawke “Nature As Cure” \nDo you find yourself feeling depressed at the endless anti-environmental antics of politicians and developers? You are not alone. However\, this presentation asks us to collectively pause and take a moment to rediscover the beauty of Nature. It is indeed a changing world and we have to find ways to cope… perhaps a moment to reflect on the natural beauty of the out-of-doors will help.
