The Four Winds property was acquired in 1949 as a weekend escape from the city. Her father\, inspired by the dramatic setting of the 34-acre property\, envisioned a landscape garden. He shared his ideas with the family but passed away before he could act on them. \nGrace\, with an academic background in Fine Arts\, later earned a diploma in Landscape Architecture from the University of Toronto. Rodger recognized the potential of Four Winds for a landscape design project\, and together they began the planning and work\, each contributing their unique experiences and strengths. They rebuilt the house and barn\, added terraces descending the steep hill south of the barn\, and over time\, continued to expand the gardens. They incorporated vegetable and perennial gardens\, and planted many trees—over 900\, in fact! \nJoin us as Rodger and Grace explore and explain the remarkable transformation of Four Winds.
