The Fruitful City
September 9, 2021 @ 7:00 am - 8:00 pm
Helena Moncrieff is a writer, professor, former radio journalist, and lifelong city dweller. Her writing has appeared in Best Health magazine, the Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail and many in-house publications.
Helena was inspired to write about city fruit trees after seeing the bounty her daughter brought home from volunteer expeditions with Not Far From the Tree. She researched by following the blossoms and the birds and speaking to people like you who see the potential in the earth.
Her book, The Fruitful City, was a awarded a Heritage Toronto Award and it was shortlisted for a Rakuten-Kobo Prize.
She lives in Toronto on the edge of High Park’s oak savannah. As a result, her freezer is full of fruit collected from other people’s backyards.
Join us via Zoom on September 9th to hear more about this fascinating subject and how you, too, could be part of this fruitful rescue mission.
