Soil Essentials with Robert Pavlis – Virtual Meeting
November 4, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Soil is one of the most important things plants need to grow, and it’s the only one that the gardener can
control. Robert will discuss what soil is, how its characteristics affect plants, and what makes good soil. He
will also look at soilless options and try to understand how they affect plants. He will finish by giving specific
soil mix recommendations for a variety of garden situations.
Robert Pavlis is a well-known speaker and educator with over 40 years of gardening experience. He is the
author of several books, Building Natural Ponds, Soil Science for Gardeners and Garden Myths, and publishes the
popular gardening blogs; GardenMyths.com and GardenFundamentals.com. As the owner and head gardener of
Aspen Grove Gardens, a six-acre botanical garden, he grows 3,000 varieties of plants on this site. He also
teaches a course on pruning trees & shrubs.
