Memorial Gardens, Belleville, Re-dedication
June 22 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pmFree
On Saturday, June 22, at 11:30 a.m. Memorial Gardens (northeast corner of Bell Blvd and North Park St.) will be rededicated both to the Belleville Garden Club members who were previously memorialized here and for its new purpose: offering a place for everyone to honour a gardener. The Gardens were originally dedicated on September 30, 1990, to “the memory of those dedicated members of the Belleville Garden Club who devoted their loyal service to horticulture.” Since then, the gardens have grown and changed and are now a special part of West Riverside Park.
In 2017, the Belleville Garden Club made a generous donation to the City of Belleville to help with the revitalization of the gardens and the restoration of the existing memorials. The hope is that members of the public will memorialize their loved ones by donating an item such as a bench, light standard, or plaque. For more information about donations, please consult the city’s Playbook or contact your local councillor.
Memorial Gardens are the only gardens in the immediate area, and the space can be booked by the public for weddings, outdoor services by any church, sunrise services, and many other activities relative to the surroundings. Please contact Mary Boyd, Booking and Rental Supervisor, at 613-968-6481 ext 3808, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
It is hoped that more people will become acquainted with this beautiful park which is one of Belleville’s many treasures.
