Fergus & District – March Members’ Meeting
March 17, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Guest Speaker – Anna Leggatt
“Now I’ve got it, Where do I put it?”
This talk addresses the challenge we all face after a trip to the local garden centre when we come home with something absolutely irresistible. It speaks to the choices we face in adding new plants to our gardens to get the best results, and the need for a good garden design.
Anna is a Toronto Master Gardener, a former High School teacher in Botany and Chemistry, and has worked for 30 years at the Kortright Centre for Conservation. She is a Past Chair of the Ontario Rock Garden Society and former editor of its Journal, and Past Director of the North American Rock Garden Society. She won the NARGS Marvin Black Award in 2017, a Silver Award from GARDENCOMM in 2016, and other prizes for photography.
Anna describes herself as “basically a mad gardener, gardening in a comparatively large garden in Toronto with lots of shade and with visiting mink, deer and groundhogs. I love shrubs, bulbs, rock gardening, wildflowers, Japanese effects, working with stone, and changing my garden design. I want to grow vegetables. However, the deer and groundhogs would like me to as well!”
