Join us for an update on this exciting project, presented by Gérald Lajeunesse, Chair, Canadensis Botanical Garden Society Board of Directors.

Ottawa, as many cities across Canada and throughout the world, offers wonderful landscapes for the enjoyment of its residents and visitors, including large and small parks, landscaped parkways, plazas and public spaces as well as a few garden gems such as the Rideau Hall private gardens and Maplelawn. After 125+ years in the making, we have reached a ‘tipping point’ where our greater community will be able to enjoy and boast of a major horticultural destination and attraction, a botanical garden that celebrates Canadian achievements while welcoming families, youth, international visitors to discover our national gardening and horticultural successes.

This presentation will share a vision for a national botanical garden based on a recently drafted masterplan presently under review by the Federal authorities, its benefits and new opportunities for community engagement.
