Fergus & District – April Members’ Meeting
April 21, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Guest Speaker: Julia Dimakos
Successful Vegetable Gardening
In this presentation, Julia will discuss all the steps that she took in building her 2000 square foot, raised bed, kitchen garden on a rural property in Mono, Ontario. This includes grading a section of the field, installing a deer fence, building raised beds, fertilizing, and proper watering techniques, not to mention transplanting tips, sowing and planting techniques, trellising, crop rotation and so on. These are the steps that she currently follows in her own vegetable garden and finds success year after year.
Julia may be best known as a Past President of the Orangeville & District Horticultural Society, but she’s also a garden blogger and has been writing about gardening for over 7 years, with a focus on vegetable, herb and flower gardening. She gardens organically and always looks for the simplest way to do things. In addition to her love of writing about gardening, she has been invited to speak at many horticultural societies on the topics which are close to her heart.
